A ten passenger van, wheelchair lift-equipped, is available for persons with disabilities on a limited basis. Make your appointments in advance. Established priorities govern the van's availability.
Independent living is a philosophy of life and a philosophy for service provision. Developing along lines similar to the civil rights movement, the idea of people with disabilities taking control of their own lives has spread nationwide from its Berkeley, California roots in the late 1960's. Persons with disabilities want and need to be self-reliant and self-determining on the direction of their own lives. Because disabilities know no boundaries, GRILC places no boundaries on the disabled persons we serve.
Make your needs and desires known. Visit our Center, call our staff. The Genesee Region Independent Living Center is here for you.
